The Virtuals Telegram group at t.me/virtuals is the project’s open chat, and it admits anyone with a phone number. VIRTUAL is the token of Virtuals Protocol, a launchpad for AI agents that was built first on Base and now also trades on Solana as an SPL token at mint 3iQL8BFS2vE7mww4ehAqQHAsbmRNCrPxizWAT2Zfyr9y. Cherry (cherry.fun) is a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto: you sign in with a wallet, DM any address, and join group chats that check the chain themselves. Cherry runs a VIRTUAL Holders room at chat.cherry.fun/@virtual , gated by that mint. Cherry is not affiliated with the Virtuals Protocol team.

What VIRTUAL is

Virtuals Protocol lets people create and tokenize AI agents without writing code, and VIRTUAL is the currency those agents settle in. Creating an agent costs 100 VIRTUAL. The agent’s token trades on a bonding curve until it reaches 42,000 VIRTUAL, when it graduates into a permanent pool paired with VIRTUAL. Holders stake for veVIRTUAL to vote in the DAO and to collect agent-token airdrops, and fees paid to agents fund periodic buybacks and burns.

Founded by Jansen Teng and Weekee Tiew, the project grew out of PathDAO, a gaming guild formed in 2021 that turned to AI agents in January 2024, and raised a $16 million seed led by DeFiance Capital and Beam. Luna, an AI vocalist launched through it, passed 500,000 TikTok followers, and Animoca Brands announced a partnership in 2025.

The numbers and the addresses a gate can use:

  • Solana: SPL token under the SPL Token program, nine decimals, mint 3iQL8BFS2vE7mww4ehAqQHAsbmRNCrPxizWAT2Zfyr9y.

  • Launch: the launchpad opened in 2024 on Base and spread to Ethereum and Solana during 2025. The Solana mint dates from 28 January 2025, its first pool from 3 February 2025.
  • Supply: 658.4 million VIRTUAL circulating against a 1 billion maximum, market cap about $407 million on 12 September 2026.
  • Solana side: 27.8 million VIRTUAL held by 28,184 wallets on 13 September 2026, a slice of the whole.

Virtuals Telegram and the other official channels

As of September 2026 the project points people to its site at virtuals.io , the Telegram group at t.me/virtuals and the @virtuals_io account on X. None of them can tell a holder from a visitor.

That gap costs more here than for most tokens, because an agent launch is the moment when a fake admin with a copied avatar and a “graduation” link is worth money. A Telegram member list proves a phone number existed. The usual Discord fix, a verify bot that sends members to a third-party site to sign a message, has the shape of the phishing it is meant to stop.

VIRTUAL also exists as four separate contracts, so a room gated on the ticker mixes four audiences and four sets of fakes. A room built on one address does not.

VIRTUAL holders on Cherry

Cherry opened a VIRTUAL Holders room at chat.cherry.fun/@virtual on 12 September 2026. Cherry created it and runs it: this is Cherry’s holders room, not the project’s channel, and Cherry is not affiliated with the VIRTUAL team. Entry is one token balance rule against the Solana mint, minimum 1 VIRTUAL. On 13 September 2026 the room was public, with 45 members and no reviews.

Every name in that member list passed an on-chain check run by the app. Nobody sends a verify link, and members are re-checked in the background: a wallet that sells below the minimum is paywalled: it stays a member with the content withheld until the balance is back. From the room a holder can DM any wallet address , Cherry user or not. Type $VIRTUAL in the composer and the message renders a token card with price and market cap, with swaps powered by Jupiter. Size moves through OTC escrow in the mobile app, where a program settles both legs at once and refunds a timed-out deal. An airdrop campaign checks the same balance before it pays.

Agent builders have a second reason to be here. Cherry’s mini apps are web apps that run inside a chat with the user’s wallet and the room’s context, so an agent can be put in front of holders without an install. Cherry gates rooms by ERC-20 balances too, so a team that wants the larger Base supply can build a Base-gated room on the Base contract.

How to create a VIRTUAL-gated room

  1. Open chat.cherry.fun and sign in with a Solana wallet. The wallet signs a message: no gas, nothing on-chain.
  2. Create a group with a name, description and handle, and set it public so it gets a storefront page.
  3. Add an access requirement of the token-balance type and paste the mint 3iQL8BFS2vE7mww4ehAqQHAsbmRNCrPxizWAT2Zfyr9y. Check that the symbol resolves to VIRTUAL before you save.
  4. Set the minimum. 1 VIRTUAL admits any holder; a higher number narrows the room to real positions. A group takes up to five rules under all (every rule passes) or any (one is enough).
  5. Share the link. Visitors see the requirement, and whether their wallet passes, before they join.

Risks and disclaimers

Most VIRTUAL sits on Base, so the Solana mint carries thinner liquidity and a smaller holder base than the market cap suggests. Buybacks and burns are a mechanism the project describes, not a promise about price. A balance gate proves a wallet held the minimum when the check ran and says nothing about the person behind it, so scam links and impersonation still need moderators who can mute and ban. Group chats on Cherry are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work; DMs are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet. Nothing here is financial advice.
