# Metaplex community chat: holders verified by wallet > Metaplex on Solana: the verified MPLX mint, supply, DAO buybacks and market cap with dates, and an MPLX-gated holders room on Cherry. Metaplex (MPLX) is the governance token of the Solana protocol whose standards NFTs on that chain are issued under, and a Metaplex community chat is the one thing a holder cannot check from the outside: anyone can open a group and call it the holders' room. This page covers what the token is, where its holders talk, and how a room gated by the real MPLX mint works on Cherry (cherry.fun), a wallet-to-wallet messenger for crypto: you sign in with a wallet, DM any address, and join token-gated group chats. ## What MPLX is MPLX is an SPL token on Solana at mint `METAewgxyPbgwsseH8T16a39CQ5VyVxZi9zXiDPY18m`, six decimals, issued by the Metaplex Foundation. On 13 September 2026 it had a circulating supply of 470,495,162 against a one billion maximum, a market cap of about $15.3 million, and 24,560 holding wallets. Its all-time high of $0.8968 came on 19 September 2022, the week it launched. The Metaplex Foundation opened MPLX claims on 19 September 2022 to creators who had minted NFTs through Metaplex before a snapshot taken on 24 August 2022. United States residents were excluded, wallets linked to rug pulls were filtered out with help from TRM Labs, and collectors were added weeks later. Holders steer the protocol through the Metaplex DAO, and that is still the token's job. The DAO is funded by usage. Metaplex's documentation states that half of all protocol fees are converted to MPLX and contributed to the DAO treasury, while the Foundation keeps the other half for its operations. The Foundation's June 2026 report put monthly protocol revenue at $201,000, direct DAO holdings at 300 million MPLX on 13 July 2026, and Core NFT mints for the month at 660,000 from about 136,000 unique wallets. CoinGecko also lists a BNB Smart Chain deployment, so gate on the Solana mint above for a Solana room. ## Why Metaplex shows up in other people's gated rooms Metaplex publishes the standards the rest of Solana mints on: Token Metadata for classic NFTs, Core for the newer asset standard, Bubblegum for compressed NFTs. Cherry's NFT gating reads those standards. One rule checks an NFT from a standard Metaplex collection; another checks a Metaplex Core asset by collection or update authority. No official Telegram group is listed. Discord suits a protocol with developers in it and fails at proving who holds. Holder roles come from a verify bot: a link out of Discord, a signature on a site that is not Discord, and another round whenever the bot loses its session. Entry is one token balance rule against the mint above, minimum 1 MPLX. It is public, and on 13 September 2026 it had 664 members and no reviews. The app reads the chain itself when you join, so nobody sends you a verification link. Create a group with a name, description and handle, and keep it public so it gets a storefront page. 3. Add an access requirement of the token balance type and paste the mint `METAewgxyPbgwsseH8T16a39CQ5VyVxZi9zXiDPY18m`. Confirm the symbol resolves to Metaplex before you save: the mint begins with the letters META by design, and lookalikes trade on that. 4. Set the minimum. 1 MPLX admits any holder; 100,000 MPLX builds a room of larger positions. A group takes up to five rules under all (every rule passes) or any (one is enough), so a DAO can pair the balance with a Metaplex Core collection. 5. Share the public link. Read the mint off metaplex.com or an explorer before you trade or gate anything by it. A balance rule proves a wallet held the minimum when the chain was read, not that its owner is honest, so a room needs mods who can mute and ban. Group chats on Cherry are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work; DMs are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet.
