# JUP community chat: holders verified by wallet > What JUP is, where the JUP community talks, and how to join or build a Cherry room gated by a real JUP balance on Solana, with the verified mint. JUP is the token of Jupiter, the Solana exchange aggregator, and it lives on Solana as an SPL token at mint `JUPyiwrYJFskUPiHa7hkeR8VUtAeFoSYbKedZNsDvCN`. With 837,617 wallets holding it on 11 September 2026, the JUP community is scattered across Discord, Telegram and X, where a member list tells you nothing about who holds what. Cherry (cherry.fun) is a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto: you sign in with a wallet, DM any address, and join group chats that read the chain themselves. Cherry is not affiliated with the Jupiter team. ## What JUP is Jupiter compares Solana liquidity sources and picks the cheapest route for a swap, and it also runs limit orders, dollar-cost averaging, perpetual futures and a launchpad. JUP is that operation's own token, with a staking page on Jupiter's site and a governance vote site at [vote.jup.ag](https://vote.jup.ag/). They work for announcements, and they are weak at proving that the person typing owns any JUP at all. A Telegram group admits anyone with a phone number, so a wallet sitting on 100,000 JUP and an impostor with a copied avatar look identical in the member list. Discord's usual fix is a verify bot: you leave the server, sign a message on a third-party site, and come back with a role, repeating it whenever the bot loses state. That loop is also the shape of the most common Solana phishing attack. ## JUP holders on Cherry Cherry's JUP room is a public group whose membership is a balance check. Sign in with the wallet that holds your JUP, press join, and Cherry reads your balance of that mint. Sell below the minimum and the room paywalls you: you stay a member, message content is withheld until the balance comes back. Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet signature; the group chat itself is not encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work. - Size deals settle through [OTC escrow](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/otc-escrow/) in the Cherry mobile app: both sides fund an on-chain escrow, the program settles atomically, and a timed-out deal refunds both senders. - A team can run [airdrops and quest-style eligibility](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/airdrops-and-quests/) at a verified holder list rather than at a follower count. Open [chat.cherry.fun](https://chat.cherry.fun), connect a wallet, and sign the sign-in message. Nothing goes on-chain and there is no gas. 2. Press "Create group", name it, and keep "Group visibility" on Public. 3. Open "Access requirements", switch on "Token-gated", and paste `JUPyiwrYJFskUPiHa7hkeR8VUtAeFoSYbKedZNsDvCN` into "Token mint address". 4. Set "Minimum amount" in JUP units: 1 for an open holders room, higher for a whale room. A group takes up to five rules; under "To join, members need", pick "All of these" or "Any one". 5. Save, then claim a handle in the group settings.
