STEPN community chat: GMT holders verified on-chain
STEPN (GMT) on Solana: the verified mint, supply and market cap with dates, where the STEPN community talks, and a room gated by a GMT balance.
GMT is the governance token of STEPN, the move-to-earn app built by the Australian studio Find Satoshi Lab, and on Solana it trades as an SPL token. This page covers what the token is, where the STEPN community talks today, and how a room gated by the real GMT mint works on Cherry (cherry.fun), a wallet-to-wallet messenger for crypto where you sign in with a wallet, DM any address, and join token-gated group chats. It is for holders who want a room that checks the chain itself.
What GMT is
GMT is an SPL token on Solana at mint 7i5KKsX2weiTkry7jA4ZwSuXGhs5eJBEjY8vVxR4pfRx, with nine decimals and 418,947 holding wallets on 13 September 2026. The same token has contracts on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Polygon, which matters later: four addresses circulate for one ticker.
Find Satoshi Lab won the gaming track of Solana’s 2021 Ignition Hackathon with STEPN, an app that pays users for walking, jogging and running outdoors with a sneaker NFT equipped. GMT reached the public through Binance Launchpad in March 2022: 420 million tokens, 7% of the 6 billion maximum supply, sold at $0.01 each, drawing 130,672 participants and raising about $4.2 million. Trading opened on 9 March 2022.
The token is the governance half of a two-token design. GST is what a runner earns from movement; GMT is what a player spends to mint higher-quality sneakers, upgrade gems and vote in STEPN’s governance. Find Satoshi Lab later shipped a second app, STEPN GO.
Supply and price as of 13 September 2026: 3.111 billion GMT circulating out of a 5.074 billion total and a 6 billion cap, a market cap near $22.9 million and a fully diluted value near $37.3 million. The token traded at $4.11 on 27 April 2022, its all-time high, and at $0.005826 on 18 August 2026, its all-time low.
Where the STEPN community talks today
STEPN’s official accounts point to a Telegram group at t.me/STEPNofficial, a Discord, an account on X, the whitepaper at whitepaper.stepn.com and the STEPN GO site.
Every one of those rooms is open to anyone with an account, and nobody in them has shown a balance. For a token that lives on four chains, that gap has a specific cost. Someone posts a contract address in a Telegram group and calls it the official one; it is an address, on some chain, vouched for by a display name. Sneaker deals and “support” DMs work the same way. The usual patch is a verify bot that sends members to a third-party site to sign something, which has the same shape as the scam it is meant to stop.
GMT holders on Cherry
Cherry opened a GMT Holders room at chat.cherry.fun/@gmt on 12 September 2026. Cherry created and runs it: this is Cherry’s holders room, not the project’s channel, and Cherry is not affiliated with the STEPN team or Find Satoshi Lab. Entry is one token balance rule against the Solana mint above, minimum 1 GMT. On 13 September 2026 the room was public, with 196 members and no reviews.
Every name in the member list passed an on-chain check the app makes itself, and membership is re-checked in the background, so a wallet that sells out is paywalled: it stays a member with the room in its chat list and message content withheld until a later check, or the Re-check button, restores it. Nobody sends you a verify link. From the room, holders can DM any wallet address , including wallets that never opened Cherry, and trade GMT in the chat : type the ticker and the composer renders a card with price and market cap, with the swap powered by Jupiter. Size goes through OTC escrow in the mobile app, where a program settles both legs atomically and refunds a timed-out deal. An airdrop campaign can pay holders against the same balance check.
Sneakers are the other half of a STEPN wallet, and a room holds up to five requirements under all or any logic. An NFT rule for a Solana sneaker collection under any logic admits a wallet that passes either test, so runners who spent their GMT on footwear keep a seat.
How to create a GMT-gated room
- Open chat.cherry.fun and sign in with a Solana wallet. The wallet signs a message; nothing goes on-chain, no gas.
- Create a group with a name, description and handle, and set it public so it gets a storefront page.
- Add an access requirement of the token-balance type and paste the mint
7i5KKsX2weiTkry7jA4ZwSuXGhs5eJBEjY8vVxR4pfRx. This is the Solana address, not the Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain or Polygon contract, and the symbol should resolve to GMT before you save. - Set the minimum. 1 GMT admits any holder; 100,000 GMT builds a room of larger positions.
- Share the room’s public link. Visitors see the requirement, and whether their wallet passes, before joining.
The full walkthrough is how to create a token-gated group chat ; reaching token holders covers announcements once the room exists.
Risks and disclaimers
GMT is a game token with four years of history behind it: the price on 13 September 2026 sits about 99.8% below the April 2022 high, and the all-time low came three weeks earlier, on 18 August 2026. Most of its volume happens on centralized venues, so the depth behind a large Solana-side swap is worth checking. A balance gate proves a wallet held the minimum when it was read, not that its owner is honest, so scam links and impersonation still need mods who can mute and ban. Group chats on Cherry are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work; DMs are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet. Nothing here is financial advice. Tokens can lose value.
FAQ
Is GMT a Solana token?
GMT is an SPL token on Solana at mint 7i5KKsX2weiTkry7jA4ZwSuXGhs5eJBEjY8vVxR4pfRx with nine decimals, and it also has contracts on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Polygon. The GMT Holders room on Cherry checks the Solana mint.
What is GMT used for in STEPN?
GMT is the governance token of STEPN: holders spend it on minting higher-quality sneaker NFTs, upgrading gems and voting, while GST is the token earned from everyday movement in the app.
Does STEPN have an official Telegram group?
Yes. STEPN’s official accounts include a Telegram group at t.me/STEPNofficial, alongside the site at stepn.com and the whitepaper. The GMT Holders room on Cherry is separate from all of them and asks for a balance first.
Is the GMT Holders room on Cherry run by the STEPN team?
No. Cherry created and runs it, and Cherry is not affiliated with the STEPN team or Find Satoshi Lab. It is Cherry’s holders room for any wallet that passes the balance check, and it does not speak for the project.
How much GMT do I need to join?
The room at chat.cherry.fun/@gmt asks for at least 1 GMT in the wallet you sign in with, so any holder qualifies. An owner running their own room can set any minimum.
