# What is cherry fun? The cherry.fun app explained

> What cherry.fun is, who builds it, what it costs, whether it is safe, and the four steps from a connected wallet to your first DM and gated group.

Cherry (cherry.fun) is a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto: you sign in with a wallet, DM any wallet address, and join or create token-gated, NFT-gated, and paid group chats, with no phone number, email, or KYC. Searches like "cherry fun", "cherry fun app" and "is cherry fun safe" all land on this one product, built by Cherry Technologies, S.A. and shipping as a web app, an iOS app, an Android app, and a Solana dApp Store listing. This guide is the hands-on version of that answer, ending with four steps from a connected wallet to your first DM and your first gated group. The [about page](https://cherry.fun/learn/about/) carries the company, partner and surface detail.

## What cherry.fun is

Four things live in the same app. DMs to any wallet address or name such as `alice.sol` or `alice.skr`, end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet signature. Groups that check the chain themselves, gated by a token balance, an NFT collection, a `.sol` or `.skr` domain, a wallet threshold, or a payment. Trading inside the conversation: type `$TICKER` or paste a contract address and the message renders a token card, with Jupiter-powered swaps on web. And [mini apps](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/mini-apps/), web apps that open inside a chat with your wallet and room context.

Cherry started on Solana and also supports Base, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain (BSC) and Robinhood Chain, so a room can gate on ERC-20 holdings and you can DM an Ethereum address.

How big it is. Cherry hosts 200+ communities and 10K+ Seeker club members, with 1M+ messages sent, as of September 2026. Cherry Announcements, the channel every signed-in wallet belongs to, had 77,442 members on 11 September 2026, which is the count of wallets that have ever signed in.

## Before you start

- A Solana wallet: Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, or the Seed Vault Wallet on a Solana Seeker. On Android, Cherry connects through Mobile Wallet Adapter.
- Nothing to fund for sign-in. Signing in is Sign In With Solana: the wallet signs a message, nothing goes on-chain, no gas. You need SOL only if you later buy a token, pay an entry fee, or send a paid DM.
- No phone number, email, or KYC at any point.

## Step 1: Sign in with your wallet

Open [chat.cherry.fun](https://chat.cherry.fun) or the mobile app and pick your wallet in the connect sheet, where the button reads "Sign in with Phantom" for Phantom and the same for each wallet you have installed. Approving that signature derives your encrypted messaging identity from the wallet; the private key never leaves it. There is no password to set.

You know it worked when the chat list appears with the tabs "All", "DMs", "Groups" and "Requests", and Cherry Announcements is already in it.

## Step 2: DM a wallet address

Open search and paste an address, or type a name, into the field marked "Wallet, domain or group name". SNS names (`.sol`, also written `.sns`), `.skr` names from Seeker, and AllDomains TLDs resolve to the wallet behind them. Send your message. The recipient does not have to be on Cherry yet; the conversation waits for them until they sign in.

Two things to expect, because they are the anti-spam design. A first message to someone who does not know you lands in their "Requests" tab with no push notification, and declining is silent. If you need to be seen by a wallet you have never talked to, a paid DM delivers with a notification for a flat fee, 0.01 SOL by default as of 10 September 2026, and the message is sent only after that payment confirms on-chain. Both are covered in [DM a wallet address](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/dm-a-wallet-address/).

You know it worked when the thread shows your message as sent, even to a wallet that has never opened Cherry.

## Step 3: Join a community

Browse Discover, or search with the field "Search your chats and communities", and open a room under "Communities". Every public group also has a storefront page of its own, reached by its handle on chat.cherry.fun, with the description, the rules, what members get, the member count and member reviews. You can read all of that before you connect anything. The gated ones show which requirements your wallet already passes before you press "Join Group".

Seeker Club, the largest Seeker owners community on Cherry, is gated by holding a `.skr` domain. On 11 September 2026 it had 8,637 members, 58,198 messages and 4.9 stars from 41 reviews.

[Seeker Club on Cherry](https://chat.cherry.fun/@seekerclub)

If you own a Seeker, the [Seeker Club guide](https://cherry.fun/learn/guides/seeker-club/) covers the `.skr` requirement. Otherwise start with an open room: a public ungated group opened from a preview link can be read without signing in, and asks for a wallet when you press send.

You know it worked when the room moves into your "Groups" tab and you can post.

## Step 4: Start your own group

Press "Create group", fill in the field marked "Name the group", and choose public or private. From there a group can carry up to five [gating rules](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/token-gated-chat/) combined with all-of-these or any-one logic: a token mint with a minimum balance, an NFT collection, a domain TLD, a wallet threshold, or payment. Cherry re-checks holders in the background, so a member who sells the token loses access without anyone sending a verify link.

Charging for entry is one rule among those. A one-time fee in SOL runs from 0.0001 to 100 SOL and splits 70% to the owner's wallet and 30% to Cherry as of 10 September 2026; recurring USDC memberships bill daily, weekly or monthly between 1 and 10,000 USDC per period. [Paid communities and channels](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/paid-communities-and-channels/) covers the mechanics, and the [token-gated group chat walkthrough](https://cherry.fun/learn/guides/create-a-token-gated-group-chat/) covers the rule editor field by field.

You know it worked when the group appears in your Groups tab, and, if you made it public, a logged-out visitor can open its storefront page by its handle.

## Is cherry.fun safe?

The security surface in plain terms, including the part that is not encrypted.

- Sign-in is a message signature, never a transaction. Nothing that asks you to approve a transfer to log in is Cherry.
- [DMs are end-to-end encrypted](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/encrypted-dms-no-phone-no-kyc/), with keys derived from your wallet signature. Cherry never holds your private keys.
- Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work. Treat a group like a Telegram group: the operator can read it.
- Messages are stored off-chain on Cherry servers, so Cherry makes no claim about distributed message storage.
- Your assets stay in your wallet. Swaps route through Jupiter, and OTC deals settle in an on-chain escrow program where Cherry is not a counterparty and takes no fee.
- Brand-new wallets are gated by wallet age: they cannot post in public groups or leave reviews, and their cold DMs land hidden.
- No phone number, email, or KYC is collected, and under Apple's App Tracking Transparency definition Cherry does not track users.

## What cherry.fun costs

Nothing to sign in, message, join a free group, or create a community. As of 10 September 2026 Cherry earns from three places: 30% of paid group entry fees and USDC subscriptions, with the owner keeping 70%; the paid-DM delivery fee; and a referral share on swaps made in chat. OTC escrow carries no Cherry fee.

## Troubleshooting

- The wallet sheet opens and nothing happens on Android: the connection runs through Mobile Wallet Adapter, so approve the request in the wallet app itself, then return to Cherry.
- You sent a DM and got silence: a first message from an unknown wallet sits in the recipient's "Requests" tab with no notification. A paid DM is the escape hatch.
- A gated room will not let you in: the preview lists each requirement and whether your wallet passes it. Holding the token or NFT in a different wallet than the one you signed in with is a common cause.
- You cannot find OTC on the web: propose OTC deals in the Cherry mobile app.
- You paid for a group and lost access later: recurring memberships paywall a member when a USDC pull fails. The membership stays; access returns when you top up USDC and re-subscribe through the same paid-join flow.
