Seed Vault Wallet: the Seeker's built-in wallet

The Seed Vault Wallet is the Solana Seeker's own wallet, keys held in secure hardware. What it is, what signing in does, and how a Cherry room checks it.

The Seed Vault Wallet is the wallet app built into the Solana Seeker, backed by Seed Vault: key storage that lives in the phone’s secure hardware and signs on the key’s behalf, so the private key never comes out. Seeker owners meet it on day one, before installing anything. On Cherry, the wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto, it is also an account: one approval, one signed message, and the chat list opens.

How the Seed Vault Wallet works

Two things share the name. Seed Vault is the security feature; the Seed Vault Wallet is the app you tap.

Solana Mobile’s help center, in an article dated July 2025, describes Seed Vault as a built-in security feature on Solana Seeker and Saga devices that safeguards secrets such as seed phrases and private keys, inside the phone’s most secure hardware environment, isolated from Android and other apps. It holds up to 8 seeds of 12 or 24 words, each with its own password and optional biometrics. When an app needs a signature it submits a signing request; you approve with the password or a fingerprint, and the Vault signs without ever exposing the private key.

Setup runs in the phone’s Settings, under Seed Vault, where you also create your Seeker ID and link the Seeker Genesis Token. After that you open the Wallet app and choose which seed to import. Solana Mobile’s help center wrote in January 2026 that a Seeker ID also carries a unique .skr domain, used for on-chain transactions and interactions under that identity.

What signing into an app looks like on the phone

The Seeker runs Android, and on Android apps reach wallets through Mobile Wallet Adapter. Cherry, published on the Solana dApp Store, takes that path.

Press “Connect Wallet” and a sheet headed “Choose your favorite wallet” opens; the first entry on a Seeker is “Wallet Adapter (Seeker)”. The Cherry screen behind it states what the approval covers: “This only allows Cherry to see your public Solana address.” The Seed Vault Wallet opens, names the app asking, and you approve once.

A second screen follows, headed “Second, sign to link your device”, with the line “Signing this message proves you own the wallet. Cherry can never access your private keys, recovery phrases, or your tokens.” Tap “Sign In”, authorize in the Vault, and you are signed in.

What that signature does and does not authorize

A signature is not a transaction. Cherry’s sign-in is Sign In With Solana: the wallet signs plain text, nothing is broadcast, no gas is spent, and no balance changes. It proves the address belongs to you, which is all a Cherry account is.

It does not approve a transfer, grant a spending allowance, or hand the app your seed phrase. Anything that does touch the chain later, a swap from a chat or a paid group entry, asks for its own approval in the Vault.

Example on Cherry

Seeker Club is the largest Seeker owners community on Cherry, gated by a .skr domain: 8,635 members on 10 September 2026. Joining takes the wallet you already signed in with. The room reads the chain itself to see whether that wallet holds a .skr name, so nobody sends you a verify link and nobody asks for a screenshot.

The same signature does the rest of the work. Your .skr becomes your display name, other members @mention it, and anyone can message that name without knowing your address.

FAQ

Does signing into an app with the Seed Vault Wallet cost gas?

No. Signing in asks the wallet to sign a plain message, which never reaches the chain, so there is no network fee and no token moves. On Cherry that signed message is the whole account: no phone number, no email, no KYC.
