Trade in chat crypto: swaps inside Cherry chats

How trading in chat works on Cherry: $TICKER autocomplete, token cards with price and market cap, a Jupiter swap you sign yourself, and call leaderboards.

Trade in chat crypto means buying a token in the room where it was called, without switching apps or opening a bot DM. On Cherry, the wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto (web app at chat.cherry.fun, plus iOS, Android, and a listing on the Solana dApp Store for Seeker), you type $TICKER or paste a contract address in the composer, pick the token from an autocomplete backed by Jupiter’s token search, and the message posts as a token card with price and market cap. Any member of the room can press BUY on that card and sign a Jupiter swap from their own wallet. This page is for traders who already live in group chats: it covers what the composer sends, what the card shows, what the swap modal does, how calls get scored, and where the limits sit. Everything below is Solana spot trading, current as of 11 September 2026.

What in-chat trading does on Cherry

Six mechanisms, all inside the message list:

  • Typing $ in the composer opens a token dropdown. An empty query returns Jupiter’s top-traded list for the last 24 hours, so trending tokens inside a group chat are one keystroke away; typing letters searches Jupiter by symbol, name, or mint, with symbol-prefix matches ranked above name matches.
  • Picking a token writes $SYMBOL into your text and attaches the token’s mint address to the message. Readers see the ticker, and the card they get is for that exact mint.
  • A pasted mint address or a jup.ag/tokens/<mint> link renders the same card, so a contract address dropped into the room stops being a string to copy into another app.
  • The card shows price, 24h change, and a four-stat grid labelled MC, FDV, 24h Vol and Liq, plus a BUY button. When Jupiter has no route for the token, the button reads NOT TRADABLE.
  • BUY opens a swap modal on web and a swap sheet in the mobile app. Both quote through Jupiter, and your wallet signs the transaction.
  • Calls posted in a room can be scored: a call bot ranks tokens by their peak multiplier since the call and posts a leaderboard back into the room.

Cherry never custodies funds. The order is built by Jupiter, signed by your wallet, and submitted by Jupiter. Cherry’s revenue on this flow is a referral share collected through Jupiter’s referral program, not a fee charged to the room.

How trade in chat crypto works, step by step

The path from a ticker to a landed transaction has five hops, and each one is visible in the app.

StepWhat you doWhat the app does
1Type $ and a few lettersA dropdown of matching tokens from Jupiter’s token search appears as you type
2Pick the token, send the messageThe token’s mint travels with the message, so the card cannot switch to a same-ticker impostor
3The room sees the cardThe message renders as a token card with live price and stats
4Press BUYThe swap modal opens, picks a sensible input token from your balances, and starts quoting
5Press Sign & BuyJupiter builds the order, your wallet signs it, and Jupiter lands the transaction

Inside the modal, the header reads “Buy $SYMBOL” and a market strip shows the live price and the 24h move. Two small buttons sit at the right of that strip: “Chart” expands a GeckoTerminal chart in place, and “Terminal” hands the mint to the Trading Terminal mini app in the @trade room. The form has “You pay” and “You receive (est.)” fields, either of which you can drive, a “Max slippage” control, and a quote box that lists “Price impact” and “Router” once an order comes back. Quotes refresh as you type and keep updating while the swap window is open, so the number you sign against is the number you were shown. The action button reads “Quoting…” while an order is in flight and “Sign & Buy” when one is ready; it says “Enter amount” when the amount is empty, or “Insufficient” plus the symbol you are paying with when the balance is short.

In the Cherry mobile app, a $TICKER message renders the same card, and BUY opens a bottom sheet with the same live quotes and the same “Sign & Buy” step, as of 11 September 2026. A success state links the signature to Solscan.

A call in a Cherry room is a message that names a token, and Cherry treats it as data. The call bot reads the room’s messages and notes the first time each member names each token. Re-posting the same ticker later never resets the clock: the credit stays with the earliest caller. Every so often, the bot posts a digest headed “Best recent calls:” back into the room, ranked by peak multiplier since the call. A token called at $1 that touches $5 counts as a 5x, whatever it trades at when the digest runs.

Each line of the digest names the token, the caller and the multiplier. Prices come from GeckoTerminal, which covers pump.fun bonding-curve pools within minutes of launch and keeps working after graduation. The digest posts as plain text without token cards, so a ranked list of tickers does not fill the room with cards. A room only produces calls once an owner or admin lets the bot read all messages; without that the bot sees @mentions and nothing else. Owners add the call bot the way they add any bot on Cherry, through the Cherry API and bots .

Trending coins arrive from two directions. The composer dropdown is the pull side: $ with an empty query is Jupiter’s 24-hour top-traded list. The callout side is push: Cherry’s callouts bot watches pump.fun movers and posts qualifying coins into rooms Cherry picks for callouts, paced per room so a busy room does not get flooded. Each callout carries the coin’s mint, so it lands as a card with a BUY button.

Cherry runs a public channel for this kind of message: Alpha Wire, at chat.cherry.fun/@alpha, a feed of token calls, market takes and high-conviction plays from traders, founders and KOLs. It had 344 members and more than 3,000 messages on 11 September 2026.

Trading also shows up on people’s profiles. Cherry awards badges from trading volume and PnL as of September 2026, and a badge belongs to the wallet, so a caller’s record sits on their profile for the whole room to see. Identity details are on the wallet identity page.

What is different from a trading bot in a group

Trading bots in messaging apps usually work by generating a wallet for you inside the bot. You fund that wallet, the bot signs, and the trade happens in a private DM with the bot rather than in the room where the call was made. Three mechanical differences follow from Cherry’s design.

Custody: there is no deposit address and no bot wallet. Jupiter builds an unsigned transaction, your wallet signs it, and Jupiter submits it. The key stays where it was.

Identity of the token: the card is bound to the mint that travels with the message, not to the ticker string. Two coins sharing a symbol is a standard impersonation trick on Solana, and a card looked up by ticker is where it works. Once the sender picks from the dropdown, every reader sees the card for the same mint.

Location of the trade: the card, the price, and the button are in the room, in front of everyone. The call, the chart, and the fill sit in the same scrollback as the argument about whether to take it.

Who uses it and for what

An alpha channel operator posts each call as a token card. Members who want in press BUY without leaving the channel, and the leaderboard settles who called it first at the next digest, with the peak multiplier attached.

A token community runs a holders room gated by the token itself. New members paste the contract address, get the same card every other member sees, and can add to their position from the room. Gating rules and how they are checked live on the token-gated chat page.

A trading group that needs size uses chat for the conversation and escrow for the deal. In-chat swaps route through Jupiter at market; a block that would move the price belongs in OTC escrow in the Cherry mobile app, where both sides fund an on-chain program and it settles atomically.

Limits and honest caveats

In-chat swaps are Solana spot trades routed by Jupiter. Perpetual futures and tokenized stocks are not in the composer: they are in the Trading Terminal mini app inside Cherry, at chat.cherry.fun/@trade, a room with 160 members and 5 stars from 3 reviews on 11 September 2026. The Jupiter Swap mini app at chat.cherry.fun/@swap had 1,114 members the same day. Copy trading is narrower than the phrase suggests: a trade another member shares in the chat can be copied from the chat in one tap, through the same swap flow described above.

Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so bots and moderation can read them. That is what makes a call leaderboard possible, and it means your calls are visible to the room and stored on Cherry’s servers. One-to-one messages are different: DMs are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet, covered on the DM a wallet address page.

Two notes worth knowing before you size up. The quote box shows the price impact before you sign, so a large order in a thin pair shows its cost up front. And a token with no Jupiter route renders with the button disabled, so an unlisted or freshly migrated coin can show a card you cannot trade from yet. Nothing here is financial advice.

How to start

  1. Open https://chat.cherry.fun and sign in with a Solana wallet. The wallet signs a message, nothing goes on-chain, and there is no gas, no email, and no phone number.
  2. Open a public room or create your own group.
  3. In the composer, type $ and the first letters of a ticker, then pick the token from the dropdown. Leave the query empty to browse the 24-hour top traded list.
  4. Send the message. You know it worked when the bubble renders a token card with the price, MC, FDV, 24h Vol and Liq.
  5. Press BUY. Set the amount in “You pay”, check “Price impact” and “Router”, adjust “Max slippage” if the pair is thin.
  6. Press “Sign & Buy” and approve in your wallet. The modal on web, or the sheet on mobile, shows a success state with the transaction signature.
  7. Group owners who want the call leaderboard: invite the call bot to the group and let it read all messages, then wait for the next digest.

Open a room at chat.cherry.fun and post your next call as a card instead of a screenshot.

FAQ

Which crypto apps let you trade in chat? Cherry puts the swap in the message: type $TICKER in a room, the message renders a token card, and any member can press BUY and sign a Jupiter swap from their own wallet. Telegram and Discord route this through a third-party trading bot, usually in a DM, so the trade happens outside the room where the call was made.

Can I do a Jupiter swap inside a chat? Yes. Press BUY on a token card and Cherry’s swap modal gets an order from Jupiter, your wallet signs it, and Jupiter lands the transaction. Cherry never holds the funds and never submits the swap itself.

How do I swap tokens in a group chat on Solana? Sign in at chat.cherry.fun with a Solana wallet, open a room, type $ and the first letters of the ticker, pick the token, and send. Press BUY on the card, check the quote, then press “Sign & Buy” and approve in your wallet.

Does Cherry hold my funds when I swap in chat? No. The swap is an unsigned Solana transaction your own wallet signs. There is no deposit address, no bot wallet to fund, and no key held on Cherry’s side. Cherry earns a referral share on in-chat swaps through Jupiter’s referral program.

How do trending tokens show up in a group chat? Typing $ with nothing after it returns Jupiter’s top-traded list for the last 24 hours. Separately, Cherry’s callout bot posts pump.fun momentum into rooms Cherry picks for callouts, with each coin bound to its mint so it lands as a tradable card.

Can I trade perps in Cherry? In-chat swaps are spot only. Perpetual futures and tokenized stocks are in the Trading Terminal mini app inside Cherry (chat.cherry.fun/@trade).

What stops two tokens with the same ticker from being confused? When you pick a token from the autocomplete, Cherry attaches that token’s mint address to your message, so everyone in the room gets the card for that exact mint, whatever the ticker text says.
