# Robinhood Chain community chat: token-gated rooms

> Run a Robinhood Chain community chat on Cherry: ERC-20 and ERC-721 gating checked on-chain, DMs to any address, and no verify bot.


A Robinhood Chain community chat is a group chat whose entry is decided by Robinhood Chain itself. The chat app reads the wallet's balance or its NFTs on-chain before it lets the wallet in, and it keeps reading them for as long as the wallet is a member. Cherry (cherry.fun) is a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto. You sign in with a wallet, DM any wallet address, and join or create token-gated, NFT-gated, and paid group chats, with no phone number, email, or KYC. Cherry started on Solana and supports Base, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Robinhood Chain. This page is for the people running a token community on Robinhood Chain, or thinking about starting one.

## What Robinhood Chain is

Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum layer 2 built on Arbitrum technology. The ArbitrumDAO factsheet for the launch states that the chain went live on public mainnet on 1 July 2026, settles to Ethereum, and uses ETH as its gas token. crypto.news reported on 17 July 2026 that there is no official chain token, no airdrop and no snapshot, and that every token claiming that association is a joke or a trap. That matters for a community owner: a room gated on an impostor contract is a room full of people who bought the wrong thing.

The chain was built for tokenized real-world assets, and its Stock Tokens are exactly that. Its holder communities formed around memecoins. CoinGecko's Robinhood Chain write-up puts memecoins at 79.2% of the chain's DEX volume as of 27 July 2026, with real-world assets and everything else making up the rest. Two names carry most of that culture:

- CASHCAT, named after the working title Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt used before they settled on Robinhood. crypto.news describes a fixed supply of one billion tokens and states the token is not owned, endorsed, backed or affiliated with Robinhood Markets in any way. AirdropAlert's explainer reports that Robinhood listed it in its own app on 6 August 2026 and that the market capitalisation ran from about $40 million toward a $220 million peak in the three days around that news.
- TENDIES, an ERC-20 memecoin carrying the WallStreetBets vocabulary onto the chain. KuCoin's 5 August 2026 write-up puts its market capitalisation near $20.5 million that day; a 24 July 2026 explainer counted around 10,000 wallets holding it.

Their conversations run where token conversations usually run: an open Telegram or Discord group, with a gating bot in the middle that has to add support for the chain before it can check anything.

## What a Robinhood Chain community chat does on Cherry

Cherry gives a Robinhood Chain community four things a group chat cannot do by itself.

- Token-gated chats for ERC-20 holders on Robinhood Chain: a minimum balance of a specific contract is the entry rule.
- NFT-gated chats for holders of a collection, which is how an ERC-721 collection runs a holders-only room.
- DMs to any address on the chain. The recipient does not need a Cherry account yet; the conversation waits for them, and a first message from a stranger lands in their Requests folder without a push notification.
- Paid entry and paid channels, with one honest caveat about rails, covered under limits below.

Cherry reads the chain itself. There is no separate verification site and no bot that DMs you a link.

## How the check works

A gated group is a public group with a list of rules attached, and Cherry checks that list at two moments: when a wallet asks to join, and again in the background for as long as it is a member. Up to five rules combine under "All of these" (every rule passes) or "Any one" (one is enough), with at most one payment rule. As of 10 September 2026 these are the rule types a Robinhood Chain community will reach for:

Two mechanisms matter more than the rule list. The first is continuous enforcement: members of gated public groups are re-verified in the background, and a wallet that falls below the minimum is paywalled, meaning it stays in the group while message content is withheld until it holds again. The second is the eligibility preview: the group's public page at `chat.cherry.fun/@<handle>` shows the requirements before anyone joins, and the group info screen lists them under "Requirements", or "Requirements · any one" when the logic is any.

SNS Club is gated on holding a .sol domain and had 1,455 members and 3,872 messages as of 11 September 2026. Nobody in that room was verified by a bot.

## What is different from a Telegram group with a gating bot

The usual setup has three moving parts: the chat, a bot, and a verification site the bot sends you to. You click a link, connect a wallet to a third-party site, sign something, and wait for a role. Every step there is something a scammer can imitate, which is what a fake verify link does.

On Cherry the wallet is the account. You signed in with it, so there is nothing to link and no role to grant. The same signature that logs you in is the identity the gating check reads, and Cherry reads Robinhood Chain directly, so nobody asks you to prove anything. When the bot in the old setup goes down, nobody new gets verified; Cherry's background re-check keeps reading holdings for everyone in the room.

The second difference is what happens after entry. A Telegram verify bot checks once and mostly forgets. Cherry keeps checking, so a holders room is a room of current holders rather than of people who held on the day they joined.

## Who uses it and for what

A memecoin community that found the chain early. CASHCAT went from a joke about a pre-Robinhood company name to a Robinhood app listing on 6 August 2026, which is the moment a community stops being a group chat and starts being a target. A holders room with a minimum balance gives the core holders somewhere to talk that a newly created wallet cannot walk into, and the storefront page at `chat.cherry.fun/@<handle>` gives newcomers something to read before they join.

A token team that wants the announcements to land. A channel is a broadcast-only group: owner and admins post, members read. A trader looking for one counterparty. Trading apps reached the chain quickly: fomo, a social trading app, announced Robinhood Chain support on 9 July 2026. ## Limits and honest caveats

Payment rails are Solana's. A [paid group or paid channel](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/paid-communities-and-channels/) takes a one-time entry fee in SOL or a recurring membership in USDC, billed through the Solana Subscriptions and Allowances program, with a 70/30 split in the owner's favour as of 10 September 2026. The holdings rule can read Robinhood Chain while the money leg runs on Solana; if you want both on one chain today, price the room on Solana or keep the room free and gated.

Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted. That is deliberate, because moderation and bots need to read the room. DMs are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet.

Stock Tokens are not a gate. They are tokenized real-world assets with their own transfer and eligibility rules, and Cherry's gating is designed for community tokens and collections. Gate on a memecoin, an NFT collection, or a wallet threshold instead.

Take the contract from the project's official site. Listings and explorers on a young chain can show more than one address for the same name, and the impostor problem crypto.news described on 17 July 2026 is worse for a chain people expect to have a token of its own.

## How to start

1. Sign in at [chat.cherry.fun](https://chat.cherry.fun) with your wallet. There is no email step and no KYC.
2. Create a group, give it a name, a description and a handle. The handle becomes its public page at `chat.cherry.fun/@<handle>`.
3. In the gating step, switch on "Token requirement" for a holder room or "NFT requirement" for a collection room. Paste the contract you took from the project's official site and set the "Minimum amount".
4. Add a second rule if you need one, then pick all-or-any logic. Five rules is the ceiling, and only one of them can be a payment rule.
5. Publish and open your own page logged out. The requirements you set appear as the room's entry conditions, which is what a prospective member reads before connecting.
6. Post the link where the community already is. Anyone who holds passes on the first try, and anyone who sells gets paywalled at the next background re-check.

**Is there a Robinhood Chain token I can gate a room on?** No. crypto.news reported on 17 July 2026 that there is no official Robinhood Chain token, no airdrop and no snapshot, and that the network uses ether for gas. Gate on a token that exists on the chain, such as a community memecoin whose contract you took from the project's own site.
