Wallet to wallet messaging on Cherry: DM any Solana or Ethereum address or .sol name, end-to-end encrypted, with a Requests folder and paid notify.
Wallet to wallet messaging means sending a direct message to a wallet address instead of a phone number or a username. Cherry (cherry.fun) is a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto: you sign in with a wallet, DM any wallet address or name, and join token-gated, NFT-gated and paid group chats. No phone number, email or KYC. This page explains how a DM to an address works on Cherry, what happens when the other wallet has never signed in, why a cold DM does not spam anyone, and where the 0.01 SOL notify fee fits.
What wallet to wallet messaging does on Cherry
You can DM any address, and the recipient does not need to be on Cherry yet. The facts, as of 10 September 2026:
- The address field accepts a Solana wallet address, a
.solor.snsname (one registry, two spellings), a.skrname from a Solana Seeker, any AllDomains name such as.bonk, or a Cherry handle written@handle. The same feature covers Ethereum, Base, BNB Smart Chain and Robinhood Chain addresses. - If the wallet has never signed in, the conversation is created anyway and waits. Your message is the first thing that wallet sees in its Requests folder when it arrives.
- DMs are end-to-end encrypted with keys derived from your wallet signature, so Cherry cannot read them.
- A first message to a stranger is free and silent: it lands in their Requests folder with no push notification. Paying 0.01 SOL (the default fee as of 10 September 2026) turns it into a notified request, and the message is delivered only after that transfer confirms on-chain.
- 77,420 wallets had signed in to Cherry as of 10 September 2026; every signed-in wallet is a member of the Cherry Announcements channel, handle

How it works
A DM on Cherry is three steps for you and one signature, never a transaction, for the recipient.
- You type an address or a name into the search box labelled “Wallet, domain or group name” and press New chat. Cherry tells the three apart on its own: a wallet address, a name with a dot in it, or a Cherry handle starting with
@. - You write the first message. Cherry shows the recipient’s name or address and a delivery choice: Free (“No notification”) or “Notify · 0.01 SOL” (“Sends a push”); in paid mode the send button reads “Send & Notify · 0.01 SOL”.
- The message is encrypted on your device for the recipient’s public key and sent.
The table shows where each first message lands. “Hidden” is the sub-tab inside Requests where silent messages wait.

Two details of a paid DM matter. Nothing is delivered when you press Notify: Cherry delivers the message only when the transfer confirms on-chain, so an abandoned wallet prompt sends nothing and charges nothing. The transfer is a plain payment from you to Cherry’s treasury that only you sign, and its memo carries a random payment id with no addresses, so anyone reading the chain cannot tell who is messaging whom.
Declining is silent too. A declined request moves to the recipient’s Hidden sub-tab and the sender is told nothing, so a declined sender cannot tell “declined” from “has not opened Cherry” and has no reason to retry.
Keys from a wallet signature
Sign-in is Sign In With Solana: the wallet signs a message, nothing goes on-chain and no gas is paid. From that one signature the Cherry app on your device creates your encryption keys, and the private keys never leave the device. Each DM is encrypted for the recipient and signed by the sender, so the recipient’s app confirms who sent a message before opening it. The same signature re-creates the same keys on a new device, which is how one wallet reads its DMs on web, iOS and Android.
Names that point to wallets
Display names come from what a wallet owns: a .sol name from SNS, a .skr name on Seeker, or an AllDomains name. You can DM the name directly, and the same names are what gated rooms check. SNS Club, gated by holding a .sol domain, had 1,455 members as of 10 September 2026; Seeker Club
, gated by a .skr domain, had 8,635 members and 58,180 messages the same day. If the person you want to reach is in one of these rooms, their profile shows the name and a DM button.
What is different from Telegram and the EVM messaging tools
The usual way to reach a wallet is to find a Telegram handle on X or in a group and hope it belongs to the wallet you mean. Wallet to wallet messaging removes the guess: the address is the identity. WalletChat calls itself “wallet to wallet messaging chat for web3” and, as of 10 September 2026, covers Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Tezos and Near; Solana is not among them. Fair credit: Blockscan Chat notifies you on the block explorer when an address receives a message, which is useful for a wallet you monitor but never chat from. Choose Blockscan Chat if you only want an explorer-side ping on a wallet you watch; choose Cherry if the wallet you message should end up in a conversation, with a Requests folder and gated rooms around it. The person you DM is also in token-gated chats and NFT-gated chats verified by the same wallet, so a DM can start from a holder room instead of from a pasted address.
Who uses it and for what
Three situations where a trader needs the wallet, not the handle.
Settling an OTC counterparty. You find a seller in a holder room, DM their wallet from their profile, agree a size, and move to the Cherry mobile app to propose the deal in escrow inside the same conversation: both sides fund the escrow program, it settles when both legs are funded, timed-out deals refund. Cherry never holds the funds and takes no fee on OTC. The address you talked to is the address that funded.
Returning mis-sent funds. Someone sent you tokens meant for a different wallet, or you sent them. Paste the counterparty address, write what happened, and pay the 0.01 SOL notify fee so they get a push the moment it confirms. At 0.01 SOL a notify costs a sender real money on every address they touch. A wallet you have never chatted with cannot ask you for a signature: Cherry refuses signature and transaction requests from it until you accept the conversation.
Reaching a whale or a project wallet. Explorer shows the address that keeps buying. On Cherry you DM that address before its owner has ever heard of the app; if they later sign in with that wallet, your message is waiting.
Limits and honest caveats
- Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation, bots and the call bot can read them.
- Messages are stored off-chain on Cherry’s servers (as ciphertext for DMs). Cherry is wallet-native and non-custodial for assets.
- A DM to a wallet that never signs in is never read. Cherry cannot push to a wallet that has no Cherry session on any device.
- The notify fee is an anti-spam charge paid to Cherry’s treasury, and it buys a push notification. Whether the recipient answers is up to them. As of 10 September 2026 the default is 0.01 SOL, set by Cherry and shown on the button before you pay.
- A wallet with little or no on-chain history is treated as very new: its free cold DMs land in Hidden, and the web app steers it to Notify (“New wallets must use Notify”). It can still reply in any conversation the other side accepted.
- Bots and third-party apps that DM you cold land in Hidden with no push.
- OTC escrow is in the Cherry mobile app; the DM itself works the same on web, iOS and Android.
How to start
- Open chat.cherry.fun or the iOS or Android app and connect Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, or the Seed Vault Wallet on a Seeker. Sign the sign-in message; there is no transaction.
- Press New chat and type the address or name into “Wallet, domain or group name”. A
.sol,.skror AllDomains name points to its wallet; an@handleopens a Cherry profile. - Write the first message. Press “Send for Free” for a silent request, or switch to Notify and press “Send & Notify · 0.01 SOL” and approve the transfer in your wallet to have the recipient notified once it confirms.
- Watch the conversation. A free request shows as sent on your side; a paid one shows “Paid & sent” after confirmation. When the recipient accepts, replies arrive in your inbox with a push.
- To read your own requests, open the Requests tab in the sidebar and check the Active and Hidden sub-tabs; a message from a wallet you were expecting may be in Hidden if that wallet is new.
