# Manage multiple crypto wallets with one Cherry ID

> How to manage multiple crypto wallets: give each a job, then link them to one Cherry ID with a signature that moves nothing. Sign-in, Ledger and recovery.

To manage multiple crypto wallets, give each one a job and look at them together somewhere that never holds their keys. A common split is a holdings wallet that rarely signs anything (often a Ledger), a trading wallet for daily swaps, and a [burner wallet](https://cherry.fun/learn/glossary/burner-wallet/) for new mints and sites you do not trust yet, so one bad approval cannot reach the tokens you keep. Cherry (cherry.fun) is a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app for crypto, and its account, the Cherry ID, fits that split: one person with a display name, picture, `@handle` and badges, holding several wallets that each joined by proving ownership. This page covers how a Cherry ID is put together in the Cherry web app as of October 2026, how wallets join it, and what the Cherry Wallet's own screens say about it.

## What a Cherry ID does on Cherry

A Cherry ID is the person other people meet in chats, DMs and member lists, with that person's wallets behind it. As of October 2026 it carries:

- A display name. By default it comes from a domain one of your wallets owns (`.sol`, `.sns`, `.skr` or an AllDomains name), then your X handle, then a random two-word name. You can also type your own, 6 to 32 characters long.
- A picture and an `@handle`. You claim the handle from your X account or from a domain you hold. The app's note on it reads: "A handle is not a name. People can @mention you by it and find you at /@handle. It stays yours even if you stop owning the domain or disconnect X."
- Badges, which Cherry assigns.
- Up to 10 active wallets, Cherry's limit as of October 2026. The app never prints the number; an account at the limit is told "This account already has the most wallets it can hold."

Chats draw a wallet and a person differently, which is how you tell them apart:

| On screen | What it shows | What a tap opens |
|---|---|---|
| A wallet | Its short address and its own picture | A wallet card that says at most "Belongs to …" with the person's name |
| A person (a Cherry ID) | Display name, picture, `@handle`, badges | The person's Cherry ID card and profile |

A wallet card names its owner only when that wallet's address is shown on the owner's profile. A wallet whose address stays off the profile looks like any address with no account behind it.

On a person's profile, the wallets linked to the Cherry ID add up to one "Net Worth" figure, shown with "Volume" and "P&L". The page for a single address shows that address's "Balance" instead.

## How managing multiple crypto wallets works on a Cherry ID

You open a Cherry ID with one way in and can add more later; each wallet joins with a proof of its own.

### Ways to sign in

| Way in | What it takes | What your profile shows |
|---|---|---|
| A wallet (Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, the Seed Vault Wallet on Solana Seeker) | One signed message; the screen says "Signing is free and moves no money" | As much of the wallet as you choose |
| A Ledger | The "Ledger hardware wallet" switch, then an approval on the device | As much of the wallet as you choose |
| Google or Apple | Sign-in with that account | "Sign-in only. It never shows on your profile." |
| X | Sign-in with X | A "Show on profile" switch |

Wallet sign-in is [Sign In With Solana](https://cherry.fun/learn/glossary/sign-in-with-solana/): nothing goes on-chain, and it needs no phone number, email or KYC. The full sign-in flow and display names are on the [wallet identity](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/wallet-identity/) page.

You cannot remove your last way in. The app answers "This is the only way you can sign in, so it cannot be removed." Add a second way first, then remove the old one.

### Adding a wallet

Open your Cherry ID and choose "Add wallet". The sheet, titled "Add a wallet", lists the wallet apps it finds and says "Sign a message to prove it is yours. Nothing moves." Once the wallet signs, the app asks you to "Choose how much of it shows on your profile." You can change that choice later. The one exception is the Cherry Wallet, which always shows on the profile and cannot be hidden.

If the Cherry ID screen says "Connect a social account to add a second wallet. That is what creates your Cherry account.", sign in with Google, Apple or X first. The second wallet needs the Cherry account that sign-in creates.

### Adding a Ledger

In the same sheet, the "Ledger" row reads "Approve on the device". It asks "Which app is it connected through?", meaning the wallet app your Ledger is paired with, and then the Ledger approves a transaction that serves as the proof. Cherry's sign-in screen describes this kind of approval: "It can never be sent to the network and costs nothing." Your wallet app may warn that it cannot tell what the transaction does. On the Ledger, turn on "Allow blind signing" in the Solana app. The steps, with what each screen shows, are in the guide to [signing in with a Ledger](https://cherry.fun/learn/guides/sign-in-with-a-ledger/).

## The Cherry Wallet, in the words of its screens

A Google, Apple or X sign-up in the Cherry web app includes a step titled "Your Cherry Wallet". It says "Every Cherry ID has a wallet for mini apps and tips.", asks for a password twice, and warns "Cherry can’t reset it, so keep it safe." Under "How it works", the sign-up screen lists four rows:

| Row | What the screen says |
|---|---|
| "Only you hold the key" | "Your password becomes the key. Cherry never sees it." |
| "Cherry can’t move your funds" | "Nothing leaves this wallet without your password or biometrics." |
| "Separate from your main wallet" | "Mini apps and purchases use this one; any wallet you link later stays out of reach." |
| "An encrypted copy with Cherry" | "So you can sign in on another device. Locked with your password; we can’t read it." |

The next step is titled "Your recovery phrase": "Twelve words that restore the wallet on any device." Its warning reads "Anyone with these words has your wallet. Cherry will never ask for them." The same step offers "Download backup file". What a [seed phrase](https://cherry.fun/learn/glossary/seed-phrase/) is, and how to store one offline, has its own page.

Security settings can let the device stand in for the password: "Use this device's fingerprint or face instead of your password." If you forget the password, the "Forgot your password?" panel says "Cherry can't reset it. These are the ways back in." The recovery phrase is the way back: it restores the wallet, on this device or another. A backup file opens only with the password it was made with. With neither the phrase nor the password, the wallet cannot be recovered.

## What is different from a watch-only tracker

A watch-only tracker accepts any address you paste. It shows what that address holds and proves nothing about who owns it. A Cherry ID adds a wallet only after that wallet signs, or after a Ledger approves, so the "Belongs to" line on a wallet card rests on a proof the wallet itself gave. If all you need is a balance view across addresses, the [Solana portfolio trackers](https://cherry.fun/learn/compare/solana-portfolio-trackers/) comparison covers the read-only tools.

The keys stay where they were. A wallet you bring keeps its key in its own app or on its own device; signing the link message moves nothing and hands nothing over. The Cherry Wallet, if your account has one, is a separate wallet beside them, and its sign-up screen says any wallet you link later "stays out of reach" of it. Apps that create a wallet for you at sign-up, often called an [embedded wallet](https://cherry.fun/learn/glossary/embedded-wallet/), each describe their key setup differently, so read the screens of whichever one you use.

Wallet sign-in does one more job: the same signature derives the keys for end-to-end encrypted DMs, covered in [encrypted DMs with no phone and no KYC](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/encrypted-dms-no-phone-no-kyc/).

## Who uses it and for what

A trader with three wallets. Her Ledger holds the long-term bags, a Phantom wallet does the daily swaps, and a burner takes the new mints. She links the Ledger and the Phantom wallet to her Cherry ID, so her profile shows one Net Worth figure with Volume and P&L, and she leaves the burner unlinked because its only job is to stay disposable.

A community owner who wants a recognisable name. He signs in with X, claims his X handle as his `@handle` under "Get a handle", then adds the wallet that holds his `.skr` domain. In the rooms he runs, people see his name, picture and badges.

A newcomer with no wallet yet. She signs up with Google, gets a Cherry Wallet for mini apps and tips, sets the password, and saves her twelve words before she goes any further. A month later she installs Phantom and adds it with one signature.

## Limits and honest caveats

- Linking writes nothing on-chain, so no explorer shows that two wallets belong to one Cherry ID. Every Solana address and its holdings are public all the same, and anyone who knows two of your addresses can compare them on an explorer. What you choose in Cherry changes only what your Cherry profile shows next to your name.
- Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work. DMs are.
- Social sign-up, the Cherry Wallet and Ledger mode are described here for the Cherry web app at chat.cherry.fun.
- Google and Apple sign-in go through those accounts. The "no phone number, email or KYC" line belongs to wallet sign-in.
- The account deletion dialog says: "Your sign-in methods, devices, handle and the wallet backup we store are erased after 30 days, and every session ends now. Messages you have sent stay in the conversations they were sent to. Save your recovery phrase first if you want to keep the wallet."

## How to start

1. Go to https://chat.cherry.fun and sign in with a wallet, or with Google, Apple or X.
2. On a new account, the screen titled "This is your Cherry ID" asks you to "Pick your display name and profile picture for others to recognize you."
3. If you signed up with Google, Apple or X, set the Cherry Wallet password and save the twelve-word recovery phrase before you continue.
4. Open your Cherry ID and choose "Add wallet". Pick the wallet app and sign, or pick the "Ledger" row and approve on the device.
5. Choose how much of the new wallet shows on your profile.
6. Claim an `@handle` under "Get a handle" from your X account or a domain you hold.

## FAQ

### Can you have more than one crypto wallet on Cherry?

Yes. A Cherry ID holds several wallets, and each one joins by signing a message that moves nothing, or, for a Ledger, by approving a transaction that is never sent to the network. If the Cherry ID screen says "Connect a social account to add a second wallet. That is what creates your Cherry account.", sign in with Google, Apple or X first: the second wallet needs the Cherry account that sign-in creates.

### How many wallets can I link to a Cherry ID?

Up to 10 active wallets, Cherry's limit as of October 2026. An account at the limit sees "This account already has the most wallets it can hold." and removes one before adding another.

### Does linking wallets make them public?

Every Solana address and its holdings are already public on-chain. Linking writes nothing on-chain, and when you add a wallet the app asks you to "Choose how much of it shows on your profile." The wallets linked to a Cherry ID add up to one Net Worth figure shown with Volume and P&L on the profile, and anyone who knows two of your addresses can still compare them on an explorer.

### Is the Cherry Wallet custodial?

The Cherry web app answers in its own words. Its sign-up screen lists "Only you hold the key" ("Your password becomes the key. Cherry never sees it."), "Cherry can’t move your funds" ("Nothing leaves this wallet without your password or biometrics.") and "An encrypted copy with Cherry" ("So you can sign in on another device. Locked with your password; we can’t read it."). Its recovery step adds: "Anyone with these words has your wallet. Cherry will never ask for them."

### What if I forget my Cherry Wallet password?

The app's "Forgot your password?" panel says "Cherry can't reset it. These are the ways back in." Your twelve-word recovery phrase restores the wallet on any device and is the way back when the password is gone; a backup file needs the password it was made with. Without the phrase and without the password, the wallet cannot be recovered.

### What happens if I delete my account?

The deletion dialog says: "Your sign-in methods, devices, handle and the wallet backup we store are erased after 30 days, and every session ends now. Messages you have sent stay in the conversations they were sent to. Save your recovery phrase first if you want to keep the wallet."
