# Matrica alternatives: where Solana gating can live

> Five Matrica alternatives compared for September 2026: Collab.Land, Guild, Cherry, Towns and dm.fun, with published prices, chains and re-check cadence.

Matrica is a wallet verification service: a holder links a wallet, a bot hands out Discord roles or Telegram access, and the community keeps living in Discord. Anyone shopping for a Matrica alternative is choosing between two shapes of the same job. Either another verify bot for the chat app you already run, or a chat app that reads the chain itself so there is no bot in the middle. This page covers six options with their prices as of September 2026. One of them is Cherry (cherry.fun), the wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app that publishes this page: you sign in with a wallet, DM any wallet address, and join or create token-gated, NFT-gated and paid group chats.

## How we picked

Five questions decide this, and every option is scored on the same five.

1. What does it gate: a role inside someone else's chat app, or the room itself?
2. Which chains does it read?
3. What happens when a holder sells, and how fast?
4. Can you charge for entry, in what currency, and what is kept?
5. What does it cost to run?

An option made the list if a Solana NFT project or token community could run holder access on it on 11 September 2026. Analytics dashboards and launchpads with no gating were left out.

## Matrica

Matrica calls itself "The Community Layer of Web3" and, as of September 2026, lists eight chains in its docs: Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, Eclipse, Base, Monad and ApeChain. The rule catalogue is NFT-first. Documented role types include fungible token roles ("Set roles based on specific SPL, ERC-20, BRC-20 or Runes Tokens held"), amount, attribute, status and AND/OR based roles, verified collection and royalty based roles, X username and wallet address gating, validator stake gating and inscription numbers. Around that sit events with ticketing, DAO voting, snapshots, sales bots and Matrica Connect, an OAuth2 flow that lets a third-party app read a user's cross-chain wallet data without a fresh signature.

The setup is the classic verify-bot shape. An admin invites the bot and runs `/setup`, which the docs describe as "Creates the Matrica-Verify channel with the bot". A holder adds a wallet under Settings and signs "an off-chain message with your wallet one-time". Pricing as of September 2026: Premium at $99 a month or $899 a year, Pro at $199 a month or $1,750 a year, Enterprise on a call, plus $15 a month per 10 token gated roles and $15 a month per extra Telegram group.

Two gaps matter. Matrica publishes no re-check interval as of September 2026, so how fast a seller loses a role is not something you can quote to your community. And the conversation stays Discord's: raids, moderation load and the DM surface are unchanged by better roles.

### Matrica and dm.fun are the same company

Search results blur these two, so separate them before comparing anything. Matrica Labs Inc. is the developer named on the dm.fun Google Play listing, and dm.fun has presented itself as an app from the Matrica Labs team since its October 2025 reveal. Matrica at matrica.io is the verification and roles product for Discord and Telegram. dm.fun is a separate Solana chat app that spins up a room for every token contract address. If you came here looking for the second one, start with the [dm.fun comparison](https://cherry.fun/learn/compare/cherry-vs-dmfun/).

## Collab.Land

The straight swap for a Discord server. Its home page headline is "Turning Tokens into Connections, One Community at a Time", with the subhead "Collab.Land simplifies managing tokenized crypto communities by taking care of membership verification with precision", and as of September 2026 it claims 40+ chains, 30+ wallet integrations, tens of thousands of communities, and operation since Spring 2020. Gating runs on Token Gating Rules, balance-based and attributes-based, for Discord and Telegram.

Pricing changed on 12 November 2025 from a per-rule model to verified members: Starter free up to 25, Basic $17.99 up to 100, Premium $35 up to 1,000, Exclusive $149 up to 2,500, Elite $449 up to 7,500, Enterprise unlimited. Every plan includes balance checks "Every 24h", and a Solana event listener appears from the Exclusive tier up. A full breakdown lives in the [Collab.Land alternatives](https://cherry.fun/learn/compare/collab-land-alternatives/) roundup.

### Matrica vs Collab.Land

They do the same job with different centres of gravity. Matrica is the Solana NFT specialist: attributes, royalty status, validator stake and inscription numbers are rule types a balance checker does not carry, and its chain list is short and named. Collab.Land is the breadth-and-price play: more chains claimed, a free tier that covers a 25-holder project, and a published re-verification cadence you can put in your server rules. On cost the gap is wide at the small end, where Matrica's cheapest published plan is $99 a month and Collab.Land's paid entry point is $17.99. Pick Matrica when your rules are about what the NFT is; pick Collab.Land when your rules are about how many tokens a wallet holds and you want a stated 24-hour check.

## Guild

Guild sits one step further out, closer to engagement than to pure verification. Its home page leads with "Build engaged and unified communities", claims 100+ integrations and 1,000+ teams, grants roles in Discord and Telegram, and adds quests and member scoring, as of September 2026. Pricing starts at "Start for free. Upgrade when you need more." It names no chains there, so a Solana project should confirm coverage for its collection before migrating. See the [Guild.xyz alternatives](https://cherry.fun/learn/compare/guild-xyz-alternatives/) page for the longer version.

## Cherry

Cherry is the third column: the gate is the room, not a role handed out somewhere else. You sign in with the wallet you already use, with no phone number, email or KYC, and a group can combine up to five rules, requiring all of them or any one. The seven rule types check a token balance, an NFT collection, a Metaplex Core collection, a domain name (`.sol` and `.sns` are one registry, plus `.skr` and AllDomains names such as `.bonk`), a wallet balance or trading-volume threshold, the wallet app a member signed in with, and payment. Solana has been live since launch, and [token-gated chat](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/token-gated-chat/) and [NFT-gated chat](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/nft-gated-chat/) also cover Base, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Robinhood Chain.

The enforcement is what a verify bot cannot do. Before joining, a visitor opens the group's public page on chat.cherry.fun and sees one badge per rule, ticked for the rules that wallet passes, with a refresh control labelled "Re-check eligibility." After joining, Cherry keeps re-checking members in the background, so a wallet that sells loses access. The re-check is not instant: a seller can keep access for several days after the sale, and if Cherry cannot read the chain at the time, nobody is thrown out. Soulbound names such as `.skr` are verified once and never re-checked, since they cannot be transferred. An owner or admin invite skips the holdings check as a vouch, though it never skips a payment rule.

Money is handled by Cherry itself, with no third-party billing bot: one-time entry from 0.0001 to 100 SOL, or recurring USDC from 1 to 10,000 per period, billed through the Solana Subscriptions program, split 70% to the owner and 30% to Cherry as of September 2026. See [paid communities and channels](https://cherry.fun/learn/features/paid-communities-and-channels/) for the mechanics.

Two live rooms show the shape. Seeker Club is gated by holding a `.skr` domain and had 8,637 members and 58,198 messages, rated 4.9 stars from 41 reviews, on 11 September 2026.

[Seeker Club on Cherry](https://chat.cherry.fun/@seekerclub)

SNS Club is gated by holding a `.sol` domain and had 1,455 members and 3,872 messages on the same date.

The honest limits: Cherry group chats are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can read them (DMs are end-to-end encrypted, with keys derived from your wallet). There are no voice channels or forum threads, so a Discord server that leans on those is not a straight swap. And moving means moving people, a real cost no roundup can price for you.

## Towns

Towns is an onchain group chat app on Base where every Town is minted on-chain and membership is an NFT, with an embedded wallet per account. Its money stack covers USDC memberships, one-off or recurring, tipping, in-chat trading and a trade-fee split to owners. It raised $46M with a16z crypto leading, and Towns reported 1.7M memberships in February 2026, the same figure it gave in August 2025. Towns announced its February 2026 iOS app as "new app, new account", separate from the web app. It is the nearest thing to Cherry in shape, minus Solana-native identity; the [Towns alternatives](https://cherry.fun/learn/compare/towns-alternatives/) page goes deeper.

## dm.fun

Matrica Labs' own chat app, Solana only, built on Privy embedded wallets. A chat room exists for every Solana token from the moment its contract address is on chain, with charts and one-tap trading inside it. It went "officially live" on 21 May 2026 across web, Seeker, iOS and Android, announced paid alpha groups billed in USDC on 22 May 2026, and reported 150K total messages on 15 June 2026. Its access control, announced in March 2026, is a SOL-balance requirement to join chats: a filter, not a rule builder for a collection.

## Which Matrica alternative to pick

Stay on a verify bot if Discord is where your community lives and moving people costs more than the bot. Matrica earns it when your rules describe the NFT itself; Collab.Land earns it when you want a published check interval and a price that starts near zero; Guild earns it when quests and scoring matter more than the gate.

Move the gate into the chat app when the verify link is the problem. A wallet-connect site that hands out a role is the exact surface scammers copy, and roles granted once drift out of date between checks. Cherry fits when your holders are on Solana, you want paid entry in SOL or USDC without a third-party billing bot, and you want a public page search engines can index instead of an invite link. Towns fits the same shape on Base if NFT memberships are the point. dm.fun fits a memecoin contract-address chat with no setup at all.

## FAQ

### What is the best Matrica alternative for a Solana community?

It depends on whether you are keeping Discord. If you are, Collab.Land is the closest like-for-like: Discord and Telegram roles, a published 24-hour balance check on every plan, and a free tier for up to 25 verified members. If you are willing to move the conversation, Cherry gates the chat room itself with seven rule types and no verify bot.

### Matrica vs Collab.Land: which one should a Solana community use?

Matrica leans Solana NFT native, with roles based on NFT attributes, royalty status, validator stake and inscription numbers, across eight chains. Collab.Land claims 40+ chains, prices by verified member count from free to 449 dollars a month, and publishes a 24-hour balance check on every plan. Matrica's cheapest published plan is 99 dollars a month.

### Does Matrica own dm.fun?

Both come from Matrica Labs. The dm.fun Google Play listing names Matrica Labs Inc. as the developer, and dm.fun has presented itself as an app from the Matrica Labs team since its October 2025 reveal. Matrica at matrica.io is the wallet verification and role product; dm.fun is a separate Solana chat app that creates a room for every token contract address.

### How much does Matrica cost?

Matrica lists Premium at 99 dollars a month or 899 dollars a year, Pro at 199 dollars a month or 1,750 dollars a year, and Enterprise on a call, as of September 2026. Add-ons are 15 dollars a month per 10 token gated roles and 15 dollars a month per extra Telegram group.

### Can I token gate a community without Discord?

Yes. Cherry, Towns and dm.fun put the gate on the chat room itself, so there is no verify bot and no wallet-connect site between a holder and the conversation. On Cherry a public gated room also gets a public page on chat.cherry.fun that shows the requirements before anyone joins.

### What happens on Cherry when a member sells the token?

Cherry re-checks members in the background, so a wallet that sells loses access, though not instantly: a seller can keep access for several days after the sale. If Cherry cannot read the chain when it checks, nobody is removed. A paywalled member keeps the room in their chat list while message content is withheld.
