Best Solana social apps and Solana chat apps 2026

Seven Solana social and chat apps compared: dm.fun, Murmo, Cherry, Towns, Farcaster, fomo and Telegram, what each verifies, and a rule for picking one.

A Solana chat app and a Solana social app are two different products in September 2026, and the same search returns both. This list covers seven apps a Solana trader or community owner can use today. Three are rooms where people talk (dm.fun, Murmo, Cherry), two are feeds with trading attached (fomo, Farcaster), one is a Base chat app that happens to trade Solana tokens (Towns), and one is the incumbent everyone keeps trying to leave (Telegram). Cherry (cherry.fun) is one of the seven: a wallet-to-wallet messenger and community app where you sign in with a Solana wallet, DM any wallet address, and join or create token-gated, NFT-gated and paid group chats.

What makes a good Solana chat app

Five questions decide whether an app suits a Solana community: who your account is, whether the unit of the product is a room or a feed, how membership is verified, whether money moves inside the app, and where it runs.

Two kinds of product were left out. Messaging protocols such as XMTP are libraries, and a trader needs an app. Apps where Solana is only a deposit rail, with no Solana surface a community can be reached through, are out for the same reason.

dm.fun: a room for every contract address

dm.fun is a Solana-only crypto social app from Matrica Labs that creates a chat room the moment a token’s contract address exists on-chain. Its home page sums the product up as “CHAT, MEME, AND TRADE. ALL IN ONE.” The app went “officially live” on web, Seeker, iOS and Android on May 21 2026, after an invite-only beta that started in November 2025. Accounts use Privy embedded wallets, so identity is created inside the app. dm.fun reported 2,000-plus new users over its May 2026 launch weekend and 150,000 total messages on June 15 2026. Alongside token chats it runs DMs, private groups, paid alpha groups billed in USDC, Polymarket markets and a Pokémon card gacha built with Collector Crypt. In June 2026 its Google Play listing showed 1,000-plus installs and 3.2 stars from 5 reviews, and its App Store listing 5.0 stars from 5 ratings.

Fit note: choose dm.fun if you want a chat waiting at every ticker and you do not mind an embedded wallet holding your identity. It is Solana-only, so a community whose holders also sit on Base or Ethereum needs a second app for them. A longer breakdown sits in Cherry vs dm.fun .

Murmo: a private trading group with copy trading

Murmo is a social trading app whose unit is a small private group, not a public room. Its site is titled “murmo: Social & Copy Trading App. Every Market, Every Narrative”, and lists crypto, tokenized stocks, ETFs, commodities, prediction markets, sports, politics, real estate, forex and weather markets as things a group can trade. On Google Play, where the developer is Alpha Trading Laboratories, Inc., Murmo describes itself as “Social copy trading & group trading strategies. Follow traders. Trade together.” and says it is non-custodial, with copy trading “powered by the Solana blockchain”. The Android app was released on May 27 2026 and last updated on August 5 2026; in September 2026 it had 100-plus downloads and no rating yet. iOS is a TestFlight beta with a waitlist. Solana Mobile featured it in May 2026 as a “Seeker trading group”.

Fit note: choose Murmo if you and a handful of friends want to propose a trade, argue about it, and execute together with live shared P&L. It is a squad tool. Murmo lists no token-gated membership and no public community you can grow.

Cherry: rooms gated by what the wallet holds

Cherry is a Solana chat app where your wallet is the account and the room checks the chain itself. Sign-in is Sign In With Solana: the wallet signs a message, nothing goes on-chain, and there is no phone number, email or KYC. A group can combine up to five gating rules with all or any logic, drawn from seven rule types: a token balance on a specific mint, an NFT from a collection, a Metaplex Core collection, a domain such as .sol or .skr, a wallet balance or trading-volume threshold, the wallet app someone signed in with, and payment. Members of gated public groups are re-verified in the background, so access follows the holdings, not a screenshot taken once. Owners can charge a one-time entry fee in SOL or a recurring USDC membership from 1 to 10,000 USDC per period, with a 70/30 split in the owner’s favour as of 10 September 2026.

Cherry counts 200-plus communities and 1M-plus messages as of September 2026, and the Cherry Announcements channel, which every signed-in wallet joins, had 77,442 members on 11 September 2026. Seeker Club, the largest Seeker owners community, is gated on a .skr domain and had 8,637 members and 58,198 messages on 11 September 2026.

Money features live inside the chat. Typing $TICKER or pasting a mint renders a token card and opens a Jupiter-powered swap, a trade another member shares can be copied from the chat in one tap, and OTC deals settle through an on-chain escrow in the Cherry mobile app. Perps and tokenized stocks come from the Trading Terminal mini app at chat.cherry.fun/@trade (160 members on 11 September 2026) and prediction markets from the Polymarket mini app at chat.cherry.fun/@predict (979 members on 11 September 2026). Cherry is #1 on the Seeker dApp Store as of September 2026, with 4.8 stars from 4,000-plus reviews, around 3,000 daily active users and about 31% D30 retention.

Fit note: choose Cherry if membership has to be provable and the room is the product. Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted, by design, so moderation and bots can work; DMs are. See token-gated chat , paid communities and channels and trading in chat for the mechanics.

Towns: onchain group chats, but on Base

Towns is an onchain group-chat app on its own node network, with Celestia for data availability. Its site is titled “Towns Protocol” and describes Towns as “an open messaging protocol built on Base that powers private groups and decentralized finance”, under the line “Discover the best money making group chats”; on 11 September 2026 it showed a running total of $31,232,500 in earnings. Each group is minted on-chain and every membership is an NFT; accounts get an embedded wallet. Towns says it has raised $46M, with a16z crypto leading, and it launched the $TOWNS token on August 5 2025. In-chat trading covers Base and Solana tokens, memberships are priced in USDC, and owners take a 0.25% share of trade fees. Android joined the web and iOS apps on 20 March 2026.

Fit note: choose Towns if your community already lives on Base and you want membership recorded as an NFT. Solana appears only as tokens you can buy inside a Towns room, not as identity, so a Solana group chat there has no way to check a Solana wallet. Cherry vs Towns goes row by row.

Farcaster: a feed that learned Solana

Farcaster is a decentralized social network with a public feed of casts, an embedded multichain wallet and mini apps that run inside the feed. Neynar has operated the protocol and the clients since January 2026. Solana support landed in the wallet in May 2025, announced as “Farcaster now supports Solana!”, and Solana swap fees went to 0% in August 2025. Base remains the primary chain, and the Clanker launchpad plus most showcased apps are Base-native.

Fit note: choose Farcaster if you want a public audience and builders reading you. Your Solana wallet is an address attached to a Farcaster account, never the login, and group chat is a minor part of the app. Cherry vs Farcaster covers the identity difference.

fomo: a trading app with a social feed

fomo is a mobile and web crypto trading app whose social layer is one-to-many. Its site leads with “where traders become legends.” and, in September 2026, invited visitors to “join 500,000 traders making their name on fomo”. The feature blocks are a leaderboard, a feed of what top traders buy, alerts, Apple Pay funding and a single multichain USDC balance. It supports Solana, Base, BSC, Monad, Ethereum and Robinhood Chain. fomo announced 625,000-plus users and $4B-plus volume with its $75M Series B on June 22 2026, then reported a 130,000 daily-active-user high on July 24 2026 and 150-plus clans on September 1 2026. Clans, launched August 10 2026, are its closest thing to a group. fomo does not advertise native DMs or group chat, and its community gathers in Discord.

Fit note: choose fomo if you want cheap multichain execution and a feed of traders to follow. Conversation happens elsewhere. Cherry vs fomo sets the feed against the room.

Telegram: the default with no wallet

Telegram is where most Solana communities still are, and it knows nothing about wallets. Membership is a phone number, so proving that someone holds a token means adding a third-party verify bot, sending members to a connect-wallet site, and re-running the check on a schedule. The gaps that follow are familiar: scam DMs from lookalike admins, screenshots offered as proof of a balance, and OTC deals closed on trust between two strangers.

Fit note: stay on Telegram for reach, because everyone is already there. Move the part that needs proof, which is holders-only chat, paid access and OTC, to an app that reads the chain.

Which one to pick

Answer one question first: does your group need to prove who is in it? If it does, the shortlist is Cherry and dm.fun, and the split between them is identity. Cherry keeps your own wallet as the account and offers seven gating rules with continuous re-checks; dm.fun creates an embedded wallet and ties rooms to contract addresses. If the group is six friends sharing trades, Murmo is built for exactly that. If you want an audience rather than a room, fomo is the trading feed and Farcaster is the social one. If your community is on Base, Towns is the native answer. Telegram remains the place to announce things to people who have not arrived yet.

For a Solana token project, the useful combination is a holders room gated on the mint, a broadcast channel for announcements, and a public page people can find. Create a group at chat.cherry.fun and set the gating rule before you invite anyone; the Seeker Club guide shows what a large gated room looks like once it fills up.

FAQ

What is the best Solana chat app in 2026?

For talking to verified holders, Cherry and dm.fun are the two Solana-native chat apps. Cherry signs you in with your own wallet and gates rooms on seven rule types checked on-chain; dm.fun runs on Privy embedded wallets and opens a room for every contract address. Pick Cherry if membership has to be proven, dm.fun if you want a chat attached to every ticker.

Which Solana group chat app verifies token holders?

Cherry does the check itself: a room can require a token balance, an NFT from a collection, a Metaplex Core collection, a .sol or .skr domain, a wallet balance or trading threshold, a specific wallet app, or a payment, with up to five rules combined. Members are re-checked in the background, so selling the token ends access.

What is the best Solana community chat for a token project?

A token project usually wants a holders room, an announcements channel and a public page people can find. Cherry gives all three: a room gated on the mint, a broadcast-only channel where only admins post, and a public storefront page on chat.cherry.fun that search engines can index.

Is there a Solana social app that is not a feed?

Yes. dm.fun, Murmo and Cherry are chat apps where the unit is a room, while fomo and Farcaster are feeds where the unit is a post. Towns is a chat app, but its rooms live on Base and Solana appears only as tokens you can trade.

Do Solana social apps need a verify bot for token gating?

Not the Solana-native chat apps. Cherry reads the wallet’s holdings on-chain when you join and re-checks members afterwards, so no bot DMs you a verification link. Telegram and Discord need a third-party bot and a connect-wallet site for the same job.
